  • To franchise or not to franchise, that is the question!

Non-medical home care agencies continue to grow in popularity due to the aging population and preference of many seniors who choose to age in their homes. Starting a senior home care business to meet this great demand for in-home care may potentially be a successful, rewarding business.

When choosing to start an in-home care business you will be faced with the decision of whether to start on your own or team up with a home care franchise. There are pros and cons for both but we'll touch on one of the biggest ones and that is branding.

    • Building a brand vs getting one

One of the biggest strengths of a franchise is its brand. Franchises spend a notably large amount of time and effort building and improving their brand. That brand evokes a simple, but strong message that promises experience and quality of care.

Because the brand is immediately recognizable, franchises can also mean a faster Return on Investment or ROI. You won't have to spend time and resources convincing a client to choose your company because you can expect a decent trade from the day you open your doors. The brand is built and trusted on experience, loyalty, and the high quality of care provided.

Starting your non-medical home care agency has a whole different set of obstacles to overcome when it comes to branding - the most significant being that you don't have one. You will need to find a way to get recognized to compete in a marketplace where companies spend extreme amounts of money creating and crafting their image and brand.  Perhaps this means devising a clever marketing strategy and campaign or offer an alternative to the uniformity of a chain.
